About Us
Our location has a rich history, dating back to 1898. Nestled in the heart of Salem Virginia, our tea room offers a new experience for residents and visitors of Virginia's Blue Ridge.
Originally built by Hotelier W. E. Duvall, the location of The Gilded Rose Tea Room has had many incarnations in Salem’s history. First serving as a private residence to Mr Duval, his wife and daughter, then as home to the Oakley’s of Salem, as real estate and business office space, additional private residences, and previously the Calhoun Creamery. Reserve a seating for afternoon tea and come enjoy this restored historic Salem Landmark.
The idea for The Gilded Rose Tea Room was born out of a love for exquisite teas and a desire to create a space where people could savor the finest blends in a charming setting. Our mission is to share our passion for tea and provide a haven to indulge in the art of tea appreciation. Come visit us and be part of our story as we continue to brew delightful memories for years to come. Ask about catering, private events and scheduling a ParTEA.
